How to Find Us

Ross-on-Wye sits at the southern end of Herefordshire and while it may have the feel of somewhere off the beaten track, it benefits from great communication links.  We are only about an hour from Birmingham, Swindon, Bristol and Cardiff; and only ½ hour drive west of Gloucester.

There is also the most amazing drive up the Wye Valley from Chepstow for people coming from that direction (though it may get busy in the summer months!).

Below we provide travel information which we hope will help you plan your trip.

Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol airports are all within 1.5 hours drive; and Heathrow airport is 2.5 hrs drive – (in normal traffic conditions).

Ross-on-Wye is served by regular local buses from Gloucester, Hereford & Monmouth.
It is also served by National Express Coaches travelling to London, the Midlands & South Wales – but linking into a range of national destinations.

The nearest train station is Ledbury – 13 miles away. This sits on the Hereford to Worcester/ Birmingham New Street line and trains run regularly throughout the week and weekend, taking about an hour to Birmingham. [The Herefordshire Trail follows a lovely route from Ledbury to Ross-on-Wye and beyond.] Gloucester Train Station is ½ hour from Ross-on-Wye, with direct and connecting trains to both Paddington and the national rail network.  Buses can be caught to Ross, but check the timetables.

Parking & Fuel

Ross-on-Wye is a small town with limited on-street parking.  Visitors to Ross are advised to head for the main carparks.  The easiest, long-term carpark is on Wilton Road (HR9 5JA) – small charge and just a short walk to the centre of town with panoramic views of the River Wye. Filling stations can be found on the A40 (Ross Bypass) southbound and at Wilton Roundabout, junction of the A40 and A49 (Hereford Road); and at Morrisons supermarket in the centre of town (HR9 7AG)
